Earthquake

In XFEM4U it is possible to check the structure for earthquakes. Currently this is only provided for the Netherlands.

  • The calculation is based on NEN-NPR 9998+c1:2020.

  • The earthquake parameters that must be entered can be determined with the NEN NPR 9998 web tool.

  • Based on these earthquake parameters, the horizontal elastic response spectrum and the design spectrum are determined.

Spectrum

  • For all entered load cases, 2 seismic load cases are automatically generated in x and y direction respectively.

  • Based on the above design spectrum and the natural frequency in x and y direction respectively, all seismic loads in x and y direction are automatically generated.

  • All generated seismic loads are naturally printed in the output including the method by which they were calculated. These loads can also be displayed graphically.

  • The required load combinations for earthquakes are automatically generated.

Natural frequency in x and y direction

The natural frequencies are determined using the Rayleigh method. For the permanent load case, 2 additional load cases are automatically generated. The permanent loads are applied horizontally, based on which the natural frequencies are calculated according to the Rayleigh method. This calculation is also printed in the output.
